Painted Waves by Blair Sugarman

About this series

In collaboration with drone photographer John Huang, the Painted Waves series is an eclectic combination of light painting and top-down drone photography using the shores and waves of Shek O beach in Hong Kong as a canvas for a completely unique set of artworks.

Whilst the pairing of light painting and aerial technology is well established within the photography space, top-down light painting is much rarer, requiring precision, timing, artistic vision, and photographic experience to pull off. Using this technique, the texture and patterns of the terrain can be captured in full beauty, with artificial light drawing out the natural beauty of the ground and waves.

The Painted Waves collection comprises 3 types of shapes: Cruce, Linea, and Circulus.
