Christian was walking along the streets of the City of Vancouver during a dark and rainy night. He was suddenly inspired when he saw one of the buildings on his way back home. He created the first image with the City Skyline from Vancouver and was inspired by the German expressionist science-fiction drama film "Metropolis" directed by Fritz Lang in 1927 during the creative process.

Christian named his Fine Art project "Vantropolis" and shows his future vision of Vancouver in a few hundred years. Vantropolis is in Christian's mind a safe, clean, and peaceful place on our blue planet. Enjoy Christian's version of Vancouver - "Vantropolis"

Vantropolis

March 2020 in Egypt just before the curfew announced by the Egyptian president. My wife and I went on vacation and spent a few days in Sahl Hasheesh on the Red Sea in Egypt.

The trip turned into something unexpected, and we didn't get home until 10 weeks later than planned.

It was March 12, 2020 when this huge storm passed over the Red Sea and later on over Cairo. It's not really common for Egypt to have a severe storm with high winds and lots of rain over a few days.

I took the camera, went down to the beach, was alone and took a series of long exposure shots. The weather was miserable, but somehow I was completely relaxed and calm as I took the pictures.

The sea was wild and angry, and my wife said you're crazy to go out in this weather, but when I showed her the pictures afterwards, she understood why I had gone out, and she was also completely calm.

That's why I named the series "Calmness.".  Enjoy it and all will be well again one day.

Calmness

After three and a half months in isolation in Cairo, Egypt, we were finally able to fly back from Cairo to Vancouver, Canada, with a 19-hour layover at Frankfurt Airport.

It was the night of May 18, 2020, when we found a place at the airport and tried to sleep. I got out my camera and tripod and was honestly shocked at how empty one of the largest airport hubs in the world was.

I took the opportunity to document our experience during the night at the empty airport. During my walk through empty hallways, empty check-in counters and silent speakers, I met a few other passengers.

It was a strange feeling for myself to walk around and not see a single person. When I look back and see all these pictures, it seems so surreal. I never expected something like that would change the world.
