Abraham’s Icy Grip by Sarah Lyndsay

This is the famous ice bubble lake in Alberta, Canada that draws photographers from all over the world to come photograph the methane gas bubbles that are created as it starts to freeze over. Abraham Lake is a sight to see once it freezes over, but I think it is just as unique and beautiful before the big freeze over. I love the way ice forms as it starts to make its way across the lake for another season of bitter cold. This is one of the best times to create images with strong icy foregrounds in my opinion. I used a long exposure technique on this image to help smooth the ripples in the water and create movement in the clouds.
