True Colors

The photograph titled after the 1986 Cyndi Lauper song was taken on Fifth Avenue at NYC Pride March in 2013. It features a marcher displaying a rainbow-colored sign that reads “It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept and celebrate those differences,” a quote by Audre Lorde, who was a poet, essayist, librarian, feminist, and equal rights activist.
