Witnessing earth's rotation, capturing the Milky Way's trajectory in the sky: Time Lapse light-painting.
This is a special piece to us for so many reasons. Stop motion light-painting using blinking light is how we started this light-painting journey. Back then it was in the studio. We've come a long way since 2013, and being able to execute the technique outdoors and integrate the Milky Way in the piece is something we are proud of. In a way, it summarizes the learnings we made, many of the skills we developed along the way. This piece is the result of about 35 minutes of performance from both of us.
The video is made of 104 pictures of 20 seconds each, capturing light-painting & the Milky Way. It's a challenge on many levels. Kim has to remain still the whole time while Eric has to be precise & consistent with his circle's execution. It requires good conditions, presence, deep concentration, and strength.
