PRESERVED HERITAGE by Francis Beloved

About this series

Cultures, customs and ways of life are not the same for everyone. They are often kept and handed over to each successive generation in order to keep it.

However, some parts of the world take it much more valuable than others. This is the same for the Northern part of the African nation - Nigeria. They keep their culture and make sure it is intactly passed down.

Fascinating facts about them is firstly the way they see their Kings as demigods in which they serve with all of their might.

Beautiful and colourful display of their dance and sounds, using several ancient and aesthetic instruments like Kàkàkí - which is only used for royalty, drums, flutes among others.

The series contains selected pictures that were taken at different festivals. I do this to preserve the moments, culture and beauty in still frames mainly for the next generation to have as an evidential proof, and also help them in passing on their heritage.

The series is a collection of 10 pictures that are all 1/1, and it carries a sense of belonging and provides me an opportunity for others to connect to the art.
