Iranian Pain #3

Is a woman an invisible decoration? Is a woman a shadow? Is a woman a ghost through which one can see the environment?

I hold admiration for many things in the world; beauty, architecture, art, and culture. This series focuses on the reflection of painted tiles and mirror mosaics with the beauty of people.

I created these works in support of the women of Iran, who can no longer tolerate their unequal treatment. I wanted to show that a woman is not a shadow that blends into the wall. Perhaps my knowledge is not enough to fully feel all the pain, the whole culture of the Iranian people, but I feel their pain of injustice. And as I could, I expressed it through creativity.

“Everyone is surrounded by as much magic as they are able to see themselves.”

Kristina Makeeva is a photographer, author of “Simple Magic Things,” and explorer of magic in the everyday. She has been photographing for the last 14 years and has exhibited and published worldwide. She keeps loose track of her partnerships that range from Adobe Photoshop to hotel chains, clothing brands, etc. while pursuing her passion for traveling the world in search of beauty. Her last exhibit was in Seoul, South Korea, and she has held exhibitions in her home country of Russia.

Her most significant achievement is that she still finds passion in photography. Her biggest inspiration is travel. Traveling expands our worldview and makes us more tolerant, inspired, and excited. It’s no wonder that most of Kristina’s photos are from her adventures.
