IGNEUS by Ivan Pedretti Collection Header Image

IGNEUS in Latin means fire, which is why magmatic rocks are also called igneous rocks and result from the solidification of a molten material that comes out of volcanic eruptions, magma. When magma reaches the surface, it is called lava.

In this genesis drop of 10 photos of the Fagradalsfjall lava field in Iceland, I wanted to show the details of these solidifications and accumulations of lava flows with all these ripples and cracks, as well as the colors due to the various crystallizations.

In my photography I am often fascinated by the details of nature, how it is capable of creating art with its shapes and colors even when the grandiose event of the eruption is over.
