Stilt fishermen at sunset #5

There are many dying cultural traditions around the world and stilt fishing is one of them. Being an island, Sri Lanka has a deep connection with the ocean. We had gotten behind schedule to reach this location in time before sunset and on arrival both myself and the film crew had very little time to plan our shots. I took a huge risk knowing I had literally a few minutes to get something before the light would deteriorate rapidly. Taking my camera way back up the beach to use the 70-200mm lens was the only option because the film crew also needed to capture a sequence of me at work with the lens. On this particular occasion I would have probably chosen a different lens if I had the choice but I managed to improvise. However, getting the fishermen to remain still was a challenge that had to be coordinated with team work consuming more time I didn’t really have to set up this shot idea. In the end, just in the nick of time and with my heart racing knowing it was an all or nothing situation I was in, I managed to get this photo captured seconds before the sun disappeared behind the clouds.
