Abuztua

In Euskera (Basque language) the month of August (Abuztua) means "dry month".

The north of Spain is full of microclimates, in a range of 100km you can go from being in the forest raining with fog to being in a desert at more than 30ºc totally cloudless and without a drop of water. This photo was taken in the Bardenas Reales, called the desert of Navarra. The water has been erosing the soft sandstone creating all these cracks and textures that when dry become an intense red color.
